B-29 SUPERFORTRESS “FIFI” visits Deer Valley Airport (KDVT)

Last Tuesday, April 12, me and some friends traveled down to Deer Valley to watch Fifi, the only airworthy B-29 in the world. We woke up at 5 to get ready for the trip down from Prescott, breakfast and other preparations, and got to DVT around 8:30. Much to our disappointment, all the planes were late; we were informed that the B-17 and B-25 of the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force were going to arrive between 10 and 10:30, and that the B-29, flown by the Texas wing, wouldn't make it until 11-12. This was a 2 to 3 hour delay from the originally published time. We then headed to the terminal building to ask about the observation deck, and proceeded to the deck to watch planes for a while and to see the WWII planes land. After they all landed, we went to see them, took some tours, plenty of photos and left a few hours later, somewhat sunburned (we took no sunblock, as we expected to be there for an hour or so, and to aggravate things, I always have 2 bottles of SPF70 sunblock in my truck –Which stayed home), we headed back home. About an hour after we got back, I learned that a Blackhawk had landed on the school's soccer field and had just left, and we completely missed it. Photos and Story provided by : Felipe Garcia
