National Aerial Firefighting Centre, a commonwealth and state government initiative, is the body thus entrusted, and a significant part of what they do is to facilitate the co-ordination and procurement of a specialised fleet of aerial assets for use by the states and territories of Australia during the fire season. We were invited to attend the media day at Avalon Airport, where Victorian Deputy Premier and Emergency Services Minister, Mr James Merlino and Emergency Services Commissioner, Mr Craig Lapsley, addressed the media. The 36th annual 'Wings Over Camarillo' air show was held August 20th and 21st at the Camarillo Airport in Southern California. The airport also houses several general aviation businesses such as Orbitz Helicopters.

This year we had several Special Events including Boeing’s 100th Birthday, the 100th Anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard, the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, The 25th Anniversary of Desert Storm and many more...Read More

A small brush fire around Granite or Iron Springs, I thought; the location was right, the size wasn't. Wednesday night the fire was at over 7000 acres and 0% containment. As sad and destructive as they might seem, wildfires provide a great opportunity for airtanker aficionados and connoisseurs to gather around the airport perimeter and take photos, it also provides some entertainment for the families who have never seen planes this big at the local airport. Prescott sees only a handful of scheduled flights, and after Horizon pulled out, left Great Lakes and their Beech 1900Ds as the only scheduled passenger planes, and Ameriflight's daily run with a Metro or a 1900C as the only cargo run...Read More
