Leapfest 2016

Leapfest, the Rhode Island National Guard’s annual international training event and parachute competition was held this year on August 6, 2016 at the University of Rhode Island campus near the corner of Flagg Rd and Plains Rd (pick up zone), and behind the West Kingston Elementary School on 3119 Ministerial Road, West Kingston, RI (drop zone).


2016 is the 33rd annual Leapfest hosted by the 56th Troop Command featuring nearly 60 teams from nine countries including Canada, The Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, The Republic of South Africa, as well as teams from all over the United States. 20160806_0403_Leapfest

Embry-Riddle Octoberwest 2011: Part 1

The first week of October the Prescott campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University celebrated Octoberwest, the homecoming celebrations, usually that involves some alumni coming back, having dinner, a career expo, but I never saw something as nice as this year’s since 2008. In addition to the regular events we had 5 helicopters land on the soccer field and stay for the day, and a fly-in on Saturday. Also, N501SC, a Stemme S-10 converted to a gas/electric hybrid by  a team of students from the Daytona campus was also towed all the way here and reassembled in the parking lot for us to see.

Luke Air Force Base 2011 Airshow & Open House

For three days in March the sky was filled with Military and Civilian aircraft. Also on the list of performers were the United States Army Golden Knights and the Red Bull Skydiving Team.  There were spectators from across Arizona and many from across the country that were here to see the show. The event kicked off on Friday for base personnel and their family members. This allowed the base staff to have the day off and take the family to enjoy the show with out all of the visitors in attendance.   This also allowed for their children to be able to climb on the static displays without having to wait in line.

On Friday I was able to get a nice photo opportunity with Tim Weber and his Extra 300s Aerobatic Aircraft (N94BJ)...
