Phxspotters Day
About a week ago we recieved a email from a crew member of British Airways who wanted to do some spotting of KPHX and surrounding areas. They arrived late last night and we picked them up early this morning and our journey begins. First stop Sky Harbor International Airport (KPHX). This spotter was Helicopter Enthusiast and wanted primarily rotor shots. So I called Joe Kates and he made it happen. We were able to get out to the Maricopa County Sheriffs hanger out at Deer Valley (KDVT) and got some outstanding photos. After that we headed to Glendale Municipal Airport (GEU) and were able to get access to Airwest Helicopters, LLC. David who is the Director of Maintenance was kind of enough to gave us a nice tour of there facility. What seemed to be a long day and a little bit of driving from one side of the Valley to other. Turned out new friendships and awesome pictures.
We had new comer Jeff Huffman, who is a plane spotter at heart. Jeff who shots with a Fuji Point and shoot has great photos. I asked Jeff why he likes taking pictures and he replied ” I am really here to see the aircraft, the camera just keeps my hands occupied.” I could not agree more. We sometimes forget why we are out there in the heat, cold, snow, rain. Is it for the photos or are we out there because we love Jet Fuel.

Great Job Jason, I was glad to help you all get some great access and photos. Thanks for all you do fo the site. Joe http://www.photorecon.net
