Spotting location of the week

We will be doing a weekly spotting location update for all of our members and visitors. This weeks spotting location is 40th Street.  If you take a look on the map, that is provided below 40th St is #3 on the map. This is a great location in the winter when aircraft on the 25/07’s can’t be snapped from the parking garages. You can get great landing/departing action on both runways all day long. When driving on 40th Street you will notice that the road comes to a dead end. We have had members scrap the undercarriage of their vehicles when attempting to drive up the embankment. So please drive up there at your own risk. For members and visitors that want to park and walk to the location. It is only about 150-300 feet from the road. On top of the dirt embankment, the threshold of runways 25L and 25R can be seen to the north, and landing shots taken for aircraft landing 25L/R in winter sunlight. While your spotting, please help us keep our spotting location clean. Always take your trash with you. If your spotting with your loved one, there is a convenience store on the corner of 40th st – University. It makes a great place to meet up with a group or if you need to use the restroom. Below are some of the photos you can expect to catch when out spotting on 40th St.

For a great place to watch or photograph the incoming/outgoing planes at Phoenix Sky Harbor…on 40th street just south of Washington is a great spot. There are parking spots behind the barriers but is still a great place to sit and NOT have to pay any parking fees. Enjoy!

  • Thanks Jason, looks like I great spot and the map is a big help and I hope to squeeze this is when we are there!!!!
