Red Flag is America’s premier training exercise for today’s warfighters. Originally developed to improve our nation’s air to air kill ratio during Vietnam, it has grown into much more than strictly air to air tactics.

Red Flag 17-2, which concluded March 10th, included allies such as Spain, Singapore, and the Netherlands. As with all Red Flags, integration is the name of the game at these exercises. The mission sets allow each nation participating to adapt to each other’s tactics, and to formulate the most effective way to eliminate the threats they face using all assets involved as a singular force. NAF El Centro or Bust.

This was the first time I had the opportunity to really get up and close and feel the power what these Navy aircraft had to offer. I would like to send out a special thanks to my friend Matt and Joe who are the Co-Founders of Arizona Aviation Photographers (AzAP) ,  for giving me a chance to experience something that I might never have the chance to do again. I would also like to give a big thanks to Michelle Dee who is the Public Affairs Officer out at NAF El Centro who worked real hard and got us out there.

The day started really early for me, I just got off work at 0200 and rushed home and just had enough time to change and pack my gear and hop in the truck. Off to El Centro CA. I wanted to sleep but I can already feel the excitement boiling in my blood. NO SLEEP for me...
